It seems the damage is done

We strip the very rights
We strive to acquire
Through erratic yet static movements

Defile
Dismiss all forms of life
And grant the very right to exist
To only those that are human

Deepening our depravity
Only to vanquish as we gain
The air runs thick with disease
Primal control masquerades as growth
We bury what crumbles before us

The Oceans swell, the forests combust
A species crushed by the weight of insignificance
Deepening our depravity
Only to meet a shallow grave;
What's left of our home

Yet our potential evokes a constant longing for more
In pursuit of all we know we can be

A shift in focus
Through redesign; we amend
A lift up from our descent

to deviate, rejuvenate
and thrive on the path we lay
In silence, we captivate

To change behavior
An outstretched arm needs a spine to anchor
Compassion means action
But this is where we fail
